In 2014, Lisa found a spot on her calf that turned out to be melanoma. She had lymph nodes removed at that time which came back negative for the cancer. In the end of February of 2018, she found a swollen lymph node that was immediately taken out and found to have melanoma. Much to every doctors surprise, the cancer had metastasized. A few weeks later on her 40th birthday, she had surgery to install a port for immunotherapy treatment to begin. Because of the nature of her melanoma, the doctors decided she needs the most aggressive treatment for the cancer. She had her first round of immunotherapy with 2 different drugs a month after the lymph node was removed. She will continue immunotherapy for at least the next year. There isn’t much data on this new therapy, but it so far it has the best results they have had against melanoma in years.
Lisa and her husband have 2 boys Owen, 13 and Drew, 11, and live an active lifestyle in Colorado. Despite this diagnosis, Lisa is optimistic and knows melanoma hasn’t met such a spunky and stubborn redhead who will smile, laugh, and fight through this battle. Thank you so much for supporting her in the fight of her life.

The Gary Courtney Cancer Foundation will be running several events to help Lisa fight melanoma. For each Fighting for Lisa bracelet you purchase - proceeds will go directly to Lisa and her family for medical bills and other needs as they arise. Each bracelet is $2.00. Shipping and handling will be covered by the Gary Courtney Cancer Foundation.

Fighting for Lexi

This is Lexi. She is the daughter of our friends Corey Walker and Crystal Lynn Walker. This family has been struck by the words no parent should ever have to hear - Cancer. Lexi has a tumor too large to surgically remove on her liver. She will be starting chemo this week. My husband Don Smith and I will be raising funds for the family with bracelets (fighting for Lexi bracelets will be available September 6th) and a fundraiser yet to be announced. We love this family. They have been so supportive to us in so many ways - including raising funds for Leukemia, Lymphoma Society - LLS. Keep watching for ways you can help us help them. God Bless them and all who know their pain.

Fighting Hard - Bryan Roethel

Fighting the Battle

Warrior

Bryan Roethel

Bryan Roethel is fighting lung cancer. While his prognosis is not good, he is battling this horrible disease with his family and friends. The Gary Courtney Cancer Awareness Foundation would like to help the family in their time of need.

We will be collecting donations for the Roethel family to cover medical bills and anything else they need. We will also be adding Bryan to our LLS Light the Night and Relay for Life events. God Bless this family with strength and courage. We hope we can make the small dent in their worries. Please donate if you can on the right hand side of this blog.

We have to fight until there is no fight left!
